Non-degree Program

Non-degree programs at Sichuan University are available for regular students, advanced students, and scholars.

Regular Non-degree Programs

Applicants who finished at least one year of undergraduate study can select undergraduate courses (taught in Chinese/English) of Sichuan University or Chinese language courses in accordance with relevant stipulations. Certificates will be provided after students finish their studies.

1.Eligibility

Applicants (18 to 30 years old) must be non-Chinese citizens holding valid foreign passports, with good physical and mental health, and with at least one year of undergraduate study.

2.Application documents

(1) Certificate of highest degree or certificate of enrollment and academic transcripts. Documents should be Chinese/English originals or notarized copies;

(2) Personal statement (including study plan) written in Chinese or English. 500-1,000 words;

(3) Letters of recommendation by two associate professors (or persons with equivalent professional titles). Original letters of recommendation (Chinese or English) should be submitted;

(4) Certificates of Chinese language proficiency (if applicable);

(5) A photocopy of valid passport;

(6) Non-Criminal Record Certificate. Applicants should provide a Non-Criminal Record Certificate issued by the local public security authority no more than six months before the date of application;

(7) Foreigner Physical Examination Form (The examination results should be no more than 6 months from the date of application).

Advanced Non-degree Programs

Advanced non-degree programs are for applicants who have at least acquired a master’s degree. Through advanced non-degree programs, students can conduct topic-specific research or acquire expertise under the supervision of professors from Sichuan University. The length of schooling is normally one year with the possibility of extension based on needs. Certificates will be provided after students finish their studies.

1.Eligibility

Applicants (under 40 years old in principle) should be non-Chinese citizens with valid foreign passport, good psychological and mental health, and obtained a master’s degree or above.

2.Application documents

(1) Certificate of the highest degree or certificate of enrollment and academic transcripts. Documents should be Chinese/English originals or notarized copies;

(2) Letters of recommendation (original) by two professors in Chinese or English;

(3) Certificates of Chinese language proficiency (if applicable);

(4) Research plan (no less than 1,000 words) in written Chinese or English;

(5) A photocopy of valid passport;

(6) Non-Criminal Record Certificate. Applicants should provide a Non-Criminal Record Certificate issued by the local public security authority no more than six months before the date of application;

(7) Foreigner Physical Examination Form (The examination results should be no more than 6 months from the date of application).

Scholar Program

Scholars refer to research personnel who have at least acquired a doctor’s degree or university employees who have obtained associate professor positions or higher positions. Scholars can use the materials and information of Sichuan University and research certain topics of a discipline in collaboration with professors of Sichuan University.

Applicants (under 50 years old in principle) should be non-Chinese citizens with valid foreign passports, good psychological and mental health, and obtained a doctor’s degree or associate professor position.

2. Application documents

(1) Certificate of the highest degree or document demonstrating academic position. Documents should be Chinese/English originals or notarized copies;

(2) Letters of recommendation (original) by two professors in Chinese or English;

(3) Research plan (no less than 1,000 words) in written Chinese or English;

(4) A photocopy of valid passport;

(5) Non-Criminal Record Certificate. Applicants should provide a Non-Criminal Record Certificate issued by the local public security authority no more than six months before the date of application;

(6) Foreigner Physical Examination Form (The examination results should be no more than 6 months from the date of application).
