Public Transportation
Due to the fact that many roads in Chengdu are under construction and that the city is constantly developing, the public transportation system (including routes, buses and subways) is subject to change. In order to makes it more convenient for our students to get around the city, we are encouraging our students travel use our public transport.
Air
Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CDIA) is located 16km southwest of the city center of Chengdu. There are flights available to more than 70 domestic cities and to over 20 international cities. CDIA has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Covering an area of 500,000 m2, it has 74 boarding bridges, 64 security channels, 207 check-in counters, advanced services for transit, 3 and 5 star hotels, shopping areas, dining areas and recreational centers, which can handle over 50 million people. The airport is connected to downtown Chengdu through highway. It also has coach buses to various major cities in the Sichuan Province and many city buses and taxis services as well.
Please check out airport website http://www.cdairport.com for detailed information. A trip from the airport to the Wangjiang and Huaxi campus will cost approximately 70 RMB by taxi. For the Jiang'an campus it approximately costs 30 RMB.
Chengdu Tianfu International Airport is located on Airport Avenue, Lujia Town, Chengdu City. It is 50km in the north away from the downtown area of Chengdu and 50km away from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport in the northwest. It is a 4f International Airport, the main hub of Chengdu international aviation hub and one of the highest graded airports in the Silk Road Economic Belt .As of June 2021, Chengdu Tianfu International Airport has two terminals, with a total construction area of 719,600 square meters. There are 210 stands in the civil aviation station,113 class C stands, 7 class D stands, 82 class E stands and 8 class F stands. There are 3 runways, one being 4000 m in length/60 m wide, the other is 3800 m long/45 m wide and the third 3200 m long/45 m wide. It can greet a total of 60 million passengers annually and receives and sends 1.3 million tons of mail throughout the year.
From January to October 2021, Chengdu Tianfu International Airport has services a total of 2,876,562 passengers. Ranking second place in all Sichuan province for the busiest airport. It also ranked second place in all of the Sichuan province for most mail and cargo handled with an estimated weight of 96,207 tons. It took the fourth place in the province for the number of aircraft taking off and landing with a total 22,713 flights.
From Wangjiang campus and Jiang'an campus to Tianfu International Airport, you can take line 8 to line 1 and then line 18 to reach your destination. From West China campus to Tianfu International Airport, you can directly transfer from line 1 to line 18.
City Bus
Chengdu’s public bus services covers almost every corner of the city, including scenic spots, snack streets, tour bus centers, shopping areas, hospitals, schools, supermarkets, residential blocks and many more. Most of them start running at 6:30 am and stop after 8 or 9 pm, while some start as early as at 5:45 am and stop after 11 pm. Most public buses charge CNY 1, while those with AC can charge CNY 2. Bring some loose change with you as bus drivers won’t be able to break your bills. The fare can be paid by cash or transportation smart card if there is a card reader onboard. A 10% or 50% discount is offered for those who use a transportation smart card. Also, from 5 to 7 am, passengers can take most lines running within urban areas for free by swiping their transportation card.

Type your point of destination on "Find Places", select the travelling mode you want in "Route", and then click the "Start Navigation" button to refer to the navigation route to your destination.
Fast Lines (BRT)
At the moment, there are four fast lines in operation, K1, K1A, K2, and K2A. K means “Kuai (快)” in Chinese and fast in English. As the name indicates, they run at higher speeds than regular ones. Distance between their stops is also longer, at an average of about 1 kilometer (1,100 yards). All of them are run along the Second Ring Road of the city. K1 and K1A along the inner side clockwise, K2 and K2A along the outer side counterclockwise. They depart every 1.5 minute at peak hours, 6-8 minutes at low hours (slow hours) and 4-6 minutes at other times. The first K1 and K2 depart at 6 am every morning while the last one is at 11 every night. The first K1A and K2A leaves at 7 am and the last one stops at 7 pm. All passengers of K1 / K2 are asked to get off at Shanbanqiao Terminal to transfer to another K1 / K2 if they need to move on, while passengers of K1A and K2A need not to get off until they get to their destination.Ticket fare is the same as regular lines, either by cash or by transportation card. K1 and K2 are also free to ride before 7 am by swiping a transportation card.
Subway
According to Chengdu’s current urban traffic plan, metro lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 17 and 18 are in operation. See the network diagram of Chengdu rail transit lines for details. One can walk from Wangjiang’s north gate all the way to moziqiao line 3 and from the west gate to the line 8. The nearest subway station from Huaxi campus is Huaxiba. You can travel to and from Jiang'an campus to the Wangjiang campus through line 8.
Taxi
Taxis are also available outside campuses on any street. The stands are approximately 79 feet (2 meters) high, with a green ginkgo leaf shaped board on a blue Y-shaped support. The signs are written in both Chinese and English. The taxi fare is CNY8 (or CNY9 for SAGITAR taxi) for the first 2 kilometers and CNY1.9 per ensuing kilometers from 6 am to 11 pm. At night, from 11 pm to 6 am the next morning, the taxi fare is CNY9/CNY10 for the first 2 kilometers and CNY 2.2 for each subsequent kilometers. If the journey is over 10 kilometers but less than 60 kilometers, 50% no-occupancy surcharge of the total fee should be paid. CNY1.9 (or CNY2.2 at night) will be charged for every 5-minute waiting time, which will be accumulated when the taxi’s speed is under 12km/hr.
Do keep the receipt at the end of your ride in case you need to get in touch with the driver or with the taxi company. Please note that motorcycles and electric vehicles without any license plate are not allowed on campus.
Campus shuttle bus
Sichuan University provides transportation across its three campuses- Wangjiang campus, Huaxi campus and Jiangan campus. Students, staff, and faculty members are permitted unlimited use of this service at fairly reasonable charges. The bus service includes two fixed routes (Wangjiang campus – Jiangan campus, Huaxi campus-Jiangan campus). You board buses on a “first-come, first served”basis. Buses can run out of seats fast in peak hours, so don’t be late if you want a seat. Buses run from Monday to Friday during semesters, a modified timetable operates outside this period.
