How do I replace my passport if I have lost it?

When you discover and confirm the loss of your passport, you must immediately follow the following procedures to try to minimize the damage.

 

1.International students should report the loss to the police station where you lost it with a valid document and get a certificate of loss.

2.Get the relevant certificate letter from the Overseas Student Office.

3.Take the lost passport report certificate issued by the police station and the letter issued by the Overseas Student Office to the county-level public security bureau in your area of residence to issue the lost passport certificate.

4.Apply for a new passport at the embassy of your country in China with the certificate of passport loss.

5.After receiving the new passport, international students must first apply for the accommodation certificate within 10 days of obtaining the passport, then apply for a visa at the Overseas Student Office, and then go to the Exit-Entry Administration of Chengdu Public Security Bureau to apply for the visa or residence permit replacement procedure and complete the procedure of updating the accommodation registration in time.

 

Note: If you need to replace your passport:

You must apply for a replacement passport in China at the Overseas Student Office within 10 days of receiving your passport, and then go to the Exit-Entry Administration of Chengdu Public Security Bureau to complete the procedures for changing your passport number, otherwise you will be punished for illegal residence.
