Instructions for CSCA

I. Overview of the CSCA

The China Scholastic Competence Assessment (CSCA) for Undergraduate International Students is a standardized test designed for international students planning to pursue a bachelor's degree in China. Developed by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) in collaboration with experts from Chinese universities, the CSCA aims to assess students' language proficiency and academic foundation, helping them better prepare for undergraduate studies in China. Furthermore, CSCA scores serve as an important reference for Chinese universities in undergraduate admissions and scholarship evaluations.

Note: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are offered in both Chinese and English. Candidates should choose the test language according to their target university's application requirements.

 

III. Test Dates and Score Release

Test Dates:

The inaugural global CSCA test will launch on December 21, 2025. Starting in 2026, the CSCA will enter a regular operational phase with a fixed annual schedule. Tests will be offered five times per year in January, March, April, June, and December.

Sichuan University's application period for the 2026 undergraduate programs is from January 1, 2026, to May 30, 2026.

It is recommended to take the test in December 2025, or in January, March, or April of 2026.

 

Score Release Time:

Score release times vary by test format. Scores for the home-based online test and the offline computer-based test will be announced within 7 working days after the exam. Scores for the paper-based test will be announced within 14 working days.

V. Submission Requirements

Applicants to Sichuan University's undergraduate programs must provide CSCA scores. (For more details about the CSCA, please visit https://csca.cn/home).

  For Liberal Arts programs (Chinese-taught), CSCA scores (Chinese Language and Mathematics) are required.

  For Liberal Arts programs (English-taught), CACA scores (Mathematics) are required.

  For Science/Engineering programs (Chinese-taught), CSCA scores (Chinese Language, Mathematics, and Physics) are required.

  For Science/Engineering programs (English-taught), CSCA scores (Mathematics and Physics) are required.

  For Medical programs (Chinese-taught), CSCA scores (Chinese Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) are required.

  For Medical programs (English-taught), CSCA scores (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) are required.
