Ⅰ. Program Overview

To cultivate talents for global governance with global vision, outstanding comprehensive qualities, excellent leadership capabilities, and cross-cultural competence, China Scholarship Council (CSC) implements the Chinese Government Scholarship – Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program (YES China).

Ⅱ. Program Profile

1. Degrees offered: master’s degree

2. Medium of instruction: English

3. Program mode and duration

The program adopts a “1+1” mode. Students finish full-time basic course studies and field works and complete the preparation for their academic dissertation at Sichuan University in the first year. Students then go back to their home country and finish their academic dissertation part-time in the second year. Students shall attend the dissertation defense in China in accordance with the requirements of Sichuan University. Eligible candidates will be granted a master’s degree.

Ⅲ. Eligibility

1. Applicants (no more than 45 years old) must be non-Chinese citizens with good physical and mental health.

2. Bachelor’s degree or above, with at least 3 years work experience. Applicants with related education or working background will be preferred.

3. Applicants must be senior governmental officials (director level or above), senior management staff of institutions or enterprises, administrative staff of higher learning or research institutions, or those with work or internship experience in International Organizations.

4. Applicants should have received the pre-admission letter from the Overseas Students Office of Sichuan University.

Ⅳ. Application Documents

1. A photocopy of the first page of the passport (valid for at least six months).

2. Degree certificates (Bachelor’s and above, if applicable).

3. Academic transcripts (Bachelor’s and above, if applicable).

4. Certificate of employment or proof of work experience.

5. Two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors (or experts with equivalent professional titles) from the field related to the application. A handwritten signature, title, affiliation, phone number and email address of the referee must be included in the letter.

6. Research proposal (written in English).

7. Contents and abstracts of academic publications (if applicable).

8. Language proficiency certificates.

9. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (The examination results should be given within 6 months before the date of application).

10. Non-Criminal Record Certificate. Applicants should provide a Non-Criminal Record Certificate issued by the local public security authority within six months before the date of application.

Ⅴ.  How to apply

1. Online application

Applicants should log in International Student Service System of  Sichuan University (https://scu.17gz.org/member/login.do) to finish the application. Sichuan University will issue pre-admission letters to eligible applicants.

Applicants can then log in Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (CGSIS) (http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) for online application and submit application documents to CSC. Please select “Type A” as the type of scholarship. The agency code is 1563. The application program is “Chinese Government Scholarship – Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program”.

2. Application processing

China Scholarship Council will directly handle individuals’ applications for YES China Program. Application documents submitted by applicants will be reviewed by experts.

Ⅵ. Review and Admission

1. China Scholarship Council conducts preliminary reviews on application documents submitted by applicants.

2. China Scholarship Council organizes experts to review application documents. The final results will be released after the expert review completes.

Ⅷ. Program Introduction

1. SCU Master of Tourism Management – YES China Program

Offered by the Tourism School of Sichuan University, the Program enrolls students from across the world with a focus on students from the Belt and Road countries. Enrolling professionals with certain experience and expertise in the tourism and hospitality industry, the Program aims to cultivate high-level and practice-oriented professionals with a sense of social responsibility, entrepreneurial and innovation capacity, and professional quality in the tourism industry. With a global vision and strategic thinking, graduates of the Program will excel in jobs in modern tourism and related industries.

Based on their experience in tourism management, students will dive deep into relevant theories and practices about the tourism industry. Exchanges in management skills in tourism and related industries present students with new potential and generate extra benefits. Diversified course and practical teaching equip students with a global vision to take the lead in the innovation-driven development of relevant industries. Research and discussion on emerging issues in the tourism industry improve students’ forward-looking and strategic thinking capabilities. Graduates of the Program will be able to grasp the new phenomenon in the tourism industry and enhance their comprehensive ability in tourism management.

The Program adopts a credit system. A minimum of 34 credits is required to obtain the degree, including 25 credits from compulsory courses. Students are encouraged to take professional qualification exams related to the Program. One professional qualification certificate can count as one elective course credit. A maximum of three credits can be earned from professional qualification certificates.

2. SCU Master of International Engineering Management (IMEM) – YES China Program

Offered by the Business School of Sichuan University, the Program focuses on case analysis and hands-on practice on the basis of course teaching. The Program requires students to master basic knowledge, professional skills, practical skills, and comprehensive quality of engineering management. Targeting the demand of regional socioeconomic development, the Program combines featured basic courses, practical training, and international professional certification. In terms of course teaching, the Program taps into the advantages of SCU’s seven A-level engineering disciplines and of the industry. Based on a matrix of courses and focusing on case analysis and hands-on practice, a training system featuring internationalization and professionalization is being established.

IMEM adopts a credit system. A minimum of 32 credits is required to obtain the degree, including 27 credits from compulsory courses.
